Park Highlights

Park of Exotic Trees and Plants

Take time to admire the remarkable trees and other interesting plant species brought from faraway lands.

One particularly notable tree is the cork oak, the oldest known cork oak in Slovenia. Cypresses, false cypresses, and cedars are the most abundant. Sequoias, Japanese cryptomeria, bald cypress, California bay laurel, incense cedar, and many other thermophilic non-native species also thrive here. Dense groves of bamboo give the park a unique identity. As the stems sway in the breeze, they gently knock against each other, creating a soothing soundscape.

Garden-architectural heritage

The picturesque path to Villa Laščak begins at a stylistically matching gatehouse and winds through the park, gradually revealing the unique complex with its oriental charm. The main access path is supported by retaining walls featuring decorative oriental elements. A shorter staircase route also leads to the villa, cleverly integrated into the terrain. Along the way, a charming resting spot—shaped from a dome mould—invites passersby to pause. When the wisteria bloom, the pergola offers fragrant shade, and many visitors sit beneath it on the concrete benches adorned with oriental motifs.

Architect Anton Laščak thoughtfully designed the landscape, revealing views of the villa and park gradually, creating a unique garden-architectural composition.
